Meet Rick

I created SmallBizCoach because I enjoyed working with small business owners in a strategic advising capacity.

 

My Professional Values

 

1) Professionalism:  We will do things the right way. No shortcuts - we do the work. 

2) Transparency:  We communicate, a lot. We’re honest with each other. Sometimes, we don’t know the answers – but we’re committed to figuring it out.

3) Listening to Understand: To solve problems or achieve goals, you have first understand. That means doing more than just waiting for your turn to talk.

4) Collaboration:  We believe that two heads are better than one. We believe that even though we’re the experts in our areas, that good ideas can come from literally anyone, anywhere, and at any time. Brainstorming is valued highly.

5) Flexibility:  We place a high value on flexibility in order to meet the needs of entrepreneurs and their businesses. That is especially important in the start-up phase. Every business is different, with varying resources, challenges, products, and objectives. SmallBizCoach’s strategic and tactical support is flexible; we can operate on a hourly, daily, or weekly basis, or by project need. We can also connect on nights and weekends – it’s not a problem!

6) Continuous Learning:  Rick is what they call a “Philomath”, or a “lover of learning”. He is routinely taking relevant courses, reading relevant books and articles, listening to relevant podcasts, and so on. Ecommerce and digital marketing evolve on a daily basis; any ecommerce professional worth his or her salt must go the extra mile to stay relevant. 

My Philosophy

As a coach, consultant, or advisor, my first goal is to earn your trust, so that I can become a valued partner for you. I believe that 50% of the job is simply being a great listener. Another 25% of the job is about developing a great understanding of your business, your customers, and your needs. The last 25% is about being professionally competent. With my background, I know more about ecommerce and digital marketing than you do (most likely), but I don’t know everything. With almost every client engagement, I run into questions I’ve never heard before, or issues I haven’t addressed in some time. But, I’m very good at research and problem-solving, and tailoring solutions to your situation, team, and business processes. Whatever your vision is, I’ll work with you to make it happen.
